Currently a junior at Colorado College, I am embarking on a semester-long exploration of Thailand through a study-abroad program called International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI). The program focuses on learning about Thai culture and relationships with environment, through the course of four different blocks. The first, based in Chiang Mai, focused on Thai culture and history, where we learned about historical events and places in Northern Thailand that have affected the way the region and people are today. The second is Agriculture, where we have a mainly field-studies-focused class where we learn about sustainable agriculture and food systems in Northern Thailand. The third is Oceans, where we will be traveling to Southern Thailand to the coast, camping and kayaking while we learn about coastal ecologies and relationships of Thai people to them. The fourth is Forests, where we will be backpacking between remote Thai villages and doing homesteads overnight, learning about forestry and those ecologies.
This blog will be a place for me to document my travels and what I am learning and experiencing! Please subscribe to stay in the loop, if you so choose!
